Unfortunately, many of the website’s links are expired or even registered by someone else, which is extremely concerning for a VPN company that promises to protect your internet privacy. Also, the company Twitter page no longer appears to exist. This is a major red flag as it is clear that the company has paid little attention to its website or social media account in recent years, which draws the rest of its service into question.

What Encryption Does ProXPN Use?

The encryption level you will receive depends on the protocol you choose. PPTP operates on 128-bit encryption, IPSec uses AES-256 bit military-grade encryption, and OpenVPN utilizes Blowfish CBC 512 bit encryption in combination with 2048 bit encryption keys. For the most secure VPN connections, we would recommend using OpenVPN or IPSec.

What VPN Protocols Does ProXPN Use?

ProXPN comes with support for PPTP, IPSec, and OpenVPN. IPsec is a strong, stable protocol that will reliably reconnect should the internet connection fail for any reason. OpenVPN is one of the strongest protocols available and is open-source, meaning that it has been heavily scrutinized for issues. Unfortunately, PPTP is outdated and less secure than OpenVPN and IPSec.

Does ProXPN Have a Kill-Switch?

Unfortunately, ProXPN offers a relatively small server network with server addresses in New York, Miami, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto, Amsterdam, Zurich, London, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Jose, Iceland, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Paris.

Does ProXPN Have a No-Logging Policy?

Although ProXPN does not offer a clear no-logging policy, it does state that it will not log or monitor user activity of any kind. The provider claims that it does not keep connection or activity logs to ensure the privacy of its users.

The provider assures users that it only keeps logs of the information you entered when you signed up for an account, including your email and password. It claims that it does not keep logs of connection timestamps, online activity data, or original IP addresses. The VPN states that any third party or the government cannot request the information it does not log.

However, these claims have not been reinforced by an independent security audit, meaning that we are left to accept them based on trust alone. Also, the dates on the privacy policy are concerning as it was last updated 3 years ago in 2018. We would like to see ProXPN follow VPN providers like ExpressVPN and NordVPN in completing an independent security audit of its products and security policies.

Does ProXPN Offer Wide Device Support?

ProXPN comes with support for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. Premium ProXPN accounts can be used across multiple devices, including mobiles. Users can use the VPN across 4 devices simultaneously on a single subscription plan. ProXPN suggests that if you need to use the same subscription on more than one device simultaneously, you should choose a different server location on each to prevent connection issues, which is somewhat concerning.

Does the ProXPN VPN Service Have a Windows Client?

All of the best VPN providers offer well-designed and easy-to-use Windows apps that include simple server lists and a clear Connect button. Unfortunately, ProXPN provides a less-than-premium Windows app.

The Windows client is overwhelmed by unnecessary additions and displays your username and password, chosen protocol, UDP and TCP options, connection status, startup options, and an Upgrade feature. Despite that these may be useful features, there is no need for the VPN to display them all at once on the main interface. Moreover, during testing, the Windows client did not work as reliably as we would have liked.

Is ProXPN Good for Streaming?

If you want to use the service to unblock Netflix and access geo-restricted content on other streaming sites, you will likely be disappointed. Even though the service ProXPN claims to offer access to your favorite sites no matter your location, its streaming performance was disappointing during testing.

The VPN did not enable access to BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, or Disney+. However, it did unblock United States Netflix on the IPsec protocol. The connection speed was disappointing, though and it could not support streaming in high-definition, making the VPN a poor choice for Netflix streaming fans.

How Much Does ProXPN Cost?

Prices start at $6.25 a month on the 12-month plan or $74.95 paid annually. On the 6 month plan, the VPN comes in at $8.33 a month or $49.95 upfront. Finally, the 3-month plan is priced at $29.95 or $9.98 a month.

Unlike most other VPNs, ProXPN does not offer a monthly option, so it is necessary to commit for at least 3 months. Compared to other VPNs, these subscription prices are high. For example, Surfshark offers unlimited simultaneous connections, excellent streaming performance, and a host of advanced security features for less than $2.50 a month on its two-year plan.

The VPN company also offers a free version, although it is extremely limited. A free account user will have use of just a few server locations, slow connection speeds, no kill-switch, and will be limited to just 500MB of data per month, which is sufficient for little else than the simplest of internet activities.

What Payment Methods Does ProXPN Accept?

ProXPN comes with support for credit cards and PayPal, a disappointingly small choice of payment options. There is no support for anonymous payments with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, which may present an issue for any users that wish to remain completely private online.

ProXPN is not the best VPN service on the market, with outdated links, expired policies, poor encryption, and weak apps. Therefore, we would recommend avoiding ProXPN if possible.
