Back in August 2019, Facebook suffered a huge leak of personal user data through an exploit allowing scapers to obtain almost all personal information about users. This was later published while security companies tried their best to shut it down. So how did that go? Not very well.
Almost 2 years later the entire record of compromised data is still thriving on hacker forums. With more than 107 pages of replies, the God-ranked user “TomLiner” on RaidForums.com is uploading the Facebook Data Leak for you to download for free.
What should I do if I am in the leak?
If your details have been included in the leak, your phone number and email address could be used in scams. You need to be aware of any phone calls, SMS messages, or emails you receive and don’t click on any suspicious-looking links.
Data breaches like this one also can lead to identity theft or hacking of other online accounts. It’s a good idea to change all of your current account passwords and activate dual-factor authentication on your accounts. This will ensure that anyone attempting to access your account needs your password and a code to get in.
Of course, you could also delete your Facebook account. If you don’t use Facebook often, then this is an excellent option, although it may be an isolating option for some people.
